15 Mar The web changed our lives
Both year 1 classes visited the Museum of London to learn about the history of communication.
They saw how life and communication had changed through the ages in the fascinating range of 20th century objects in the World City and People’s City galleries. This was followed by a workshop where children handled a range of objects (including a record player, typewriter and early mobile phone). The children discussed how people communicated before email and social media, and how work and leisure activities differed before computer games and the internet.
This was followed by an interactive storytelling of the life and work of London born Sir Tim Berners-Lee and his contribution to the invention of the world Wide Web.
