08 Mar international women’s day
Today is International Women’s Day!
In EYFS children have been reading empowering stories, such as Princess Smartypants (Babette Cole) and The Paper Bag Princess (Robert Munsch) and discussing gender stereotypes through role play.
Key Stage 1 have used the book Fantastically Great Women who Changed the World by Kate Pankhurst as their inspiration. We found out about the suffragettes and Mrs Emmeline Pankhurst who led the campaign to end the law that said women weren’t allowed to vote. This links to our learning about British Values, particularly democracy, and our school value Equality.
Each class in year 1 and 2 found out about an inspirational female role model: Malala Yousafzai, Ellie Simmonds and Coco Chanel to name a few!
