21 Dec Haringey in Bloom Winners 2016!
South Harringay School is the winner of the greener school grounds category of Haringey In Bloom 2016 –
jumping up from 3rd place from last year!
Judges considered the creation and maintenance of the schools green spaces, the links the gardens have with the students’ learning and the encouragement of wildlife.
Throughout the main growing seasons South Harringay has gardening sessions in the nursery, infants and junior gardens run by parent volunteers, teachers and professional gardeners. The aim is to give all pupils, at some point in their time at the school, a chance to grow both food and flowers to learn about nature and the environment first hand. The children love this opportunity and we hope to go from strength to strength next year developing the infants “Sunshine Garden” in the playground.
If you are interested in volunteering in with any of the school garden projects please leave your details with reception.
Gardening sessions will resume in March 2017.
Big thanks to Nemone Mercer and her team for all their hard work!
