24 May Year 6 Visit Railway Fields
In Science this year, Year 6 have studied: animals, including humans; living things and their habitats; evolution and inheritance. On Monday, 6 Maple visited Railway Fields to consolidate their learning from these topics and they also had the opportunity to develop their investigation and observational skills.
Pupils conducted surveys, collected minibeasts (from a dedicated minibeast area) and went pond dipping.
Using a range of scientific equipment and knowledge, the pupils were able to classify the animals that they collected and observed. They discussed the different habitats and how conservation of such habitats is of utmost importance to the survival of the food chain.
