16 Mar Year 2 at St Paul’s Cathedral
Chestnut and Ash Class enjoyed a fascinating visit to St Paul’s Cathedral, where they took part in the Ashes to Architecture workshop. The children learnt interesting facts about the cathedral before and after the fire and discovered the important role of the famous architect Sir Christopher Wren.
Children explored the building and learnt about the special symbols, such and the phoenix carved in the façade outside and the particular design choices Wren included in the cathedral. This helped the children to deepen their understanding of how London was rebuilt after the fire and brought our topic to life. What a memorable and inspiring visit.
