26 Apr Visit to the Hindu Temple
During the week before the Easter break, Year 3 embarked upon an enriching and enlightening journey to the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, tBritain’s first authentic Hindu temple. They were brimming with excitement throughout the long journey there; upon their arrival they were mesmerised by the magnificence of the temple and the size of the murti’s adorning the entrance. Inside, we were treated to a presentation which informed us as to how the temple was built- all by hand, over a long three years. We were privileged to be part of a Hindu prayer ceremony and the children were entranced by aarti. It was heart-warming to witness the children’s enthusiasm and delight at being able to name the avatars of Vishnu and other gods, such as Ganesha, Shiva and Parvati.
Our children have thoroughly enjoyed learning about Hinduism; the trip brought their knowledge to life and we are positive that this is an experience they will remember for years to come!Unfortunately, we were unable to take pictures inside the temple, but we were given permission to take a photo outside!
