07 Oct Sports for Schools Event
On Thursday 6th October, track athlete Victoria Ohuruogu, led the Junior School children (and teachers!) through a sponsored whole school fitness circuit. The children had one minute to move through the circuit, performing as many star jumps, scissor jumps, push-ups, and squats as they could.
Once completed, we were treated to a truly inspirational assembly, led by Victoria, who shared her journey to becoming a world-class 400m sprinter. We learnt about the person who first inspired her, the successes she faced early on in her career and the challenges thereafter, which were determinedly overcome, leading to her winning bronze in this years World Athletics Championships. Victoria’s ethos in life is ‘patience and perseverance’; her passion ensured that every child recognised the value of true grit and determination and each one left the assembly with a clear sense that ‘they can do it!’ Thank you, Victoria-a fantastic morning was had by all!
