06 Mar Chinese New Year in Reception
Reception have enjoyed exploring all about Chinese New Year this Spring term. Our story ‘The Great Race’ looks at the origins of the zodiac animals and we investigated which zodiac year our own birth dates fell in. We looked at cultural objects, artifacts and photos to explore China and compared them to our own. The children were encouraged to make mandarin numerals and paint zodiac symbols to represent each animal. They also tested their sound knowledge to decode and read names of vegetables that grow abroad. The children had a fantastic week which spared creative interests!
