29 Mar Abstract Art
Year 4 have been looking at the abstract artist, Wassily Kandinsky. They knew that he enjoyed expressing his emotions through his art, so they listened to different pieces of classical music and used line, shape and colour to express the emotion and mood of the music.
Year 4 used coloured pencils to recreate Kandinsky’s ‘Diamond Colour Study’. They thought about warm and cool colours, as well as how they could begin to blend colours.
They then recreated some of his famous ‘Circle Colour Study’ using chalk pastels. They thought about blending from light to dark, and dark to light, and experimented with different ways to mix the chalks together.
