03 Jul Street Art Competition
Over the May half-term, children across the school took part in the South Harringay Street Art Competition. They explored different street art in Haringey and created their own artworks based on what they saw.
On Tuesday 1st July, local artist Ben Wilson (aka the Chewing Gum Man) visited the school to view an exhibition of the children’s work and judge the winners. Ben was hugely impressed by the creativity, individuality and range of artistic skills on display – it was very difficult to select the winners!
In a special whole-school assembly, all the children’s efforts were celebrated and prizes were awarded as follows:
Reception: Adela (Rowan), Year 1: Siggi (Birch), Year 2: Tiffany (Chestnut), Year 3: Valentina (Willow), Year 4: Lucia (Poplar), Year 5: Mark (Elm), Year 6: Sofi and Dimi (Maple)
Ben also spoke to the children about his work and answered their questions about his life as an artist. It was hugely inspiring!
