14 Jul Year 6 at The Ben Kinsella Project
Last week, Year 6 took part in a powerful and thought-provoking workshop led by professionals from the Ben Kinsella Trust. The session was designed to educate children about the dangers of knife crime and empower them to make safe, positive choices.
Through immersive and interactive experiences, including the Choices and Consequences exhibition, pupils explored the real-life impact of knife crime on individuals, families, and communities. They learned about the tragic story of Ben Kinsella and the events that led to him becoming a victim of knife crime, helping them understand the lasting effects such incidents can have.
The workshop encouraged children to reflect on their own attitudes toward knife crime. It also provided practical advice on how to support and influence their peers positively. Pupils discussed the importance of strong values, how to challenge negative behaviour, and how to stand up for what is right. They were also introduced to the concept of joint enterprise—a topic they will continue to explore in their citizenship lessons as they transition into Year 7.
