For the past couple of weeks, the children have been exploring lines in art. This week, we looked at the famous Castle and Sun painting by Paul Klee and we observed how the abstract painting known for its vibrant colours, geometric shapes depicting an imaginary cityscape or castle with towers under a blazing sun. The children enjoyed talking about this work of art as well as Kadinsky’s on The Points- abstract oil painting and Bridget Riley’s Movement in Squares. The children took inspiration from these geometric works of art and have created some fantastic oil pastel artwork. They also were able to discuss the shapes and colours used.
