At South Harringay School we are committed to helping every child to reach their full potential, including those pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We aim to provide an inclusive environment and welcome pupils with SEND into the school community.
We recognise that a significant proportion of children will have SEN at some time in their school career. Many of these pupils may require help throughout their time in school, whilst others may need a little extra support for a short period to overcome more temporary needs.
At South Harringay School we aim to;
- enable every pupil to experience success
- promote individual confidence and a positive attitude
- ensure that all pupils receive appropriate educational provision through a broad and balanced curriculum that is relevant and differentiated, and that demonstrates progression in learning
- identify, assess, record and regularly review pupil progress and needs
- involve parents/ carers in planning and reviewing at all stages of their child’s development
- work collaboratively with parents and other professionals and support services
- ensure that the responsibility held by all staff and governors for SEND is implemented and maintainedmake arrangements to support pupils with medical conditions
- meet Equality Act duties for pupils with disabilities
